Red Dot Optics/MRDS Transition

Having difficulty transitioning to a mini red dot sight (MRDS) on your handgun?  Are you about to give up and go back to your iron sights?  Red dot sights are "game-changing", but there is a learning curve which may require more guidance than you think.

From 2021 - 2022 I was part of a working group of firearms instructors at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center assigned to role out the first federal law enforcement basic firearms class using the MRDS.  I discovered and observed numerous issues involved in training students of various firearms handling skill levels and competencies.  From teaching basic students who were new shooters to experienced veteran law enforcement shooters and competitors, transitioning to a red dot sighting system on a handgun proved challenging and many lessons were learned.  Beyond considering observations made and lengthy discussions with other instructors, it took a fair amount of research and investigation to accurately diagnose, efficiently correct, and explain shooter errors.

Training  for those wanting to take a deeper dive into learning the MRDS as well as firearms instructors using and teaching the MRDS is available.  Contact us to discuss scheduling and details.
